San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors and
Workforce Investment Board host no-cost workshops for
laid-off workers
14/May/2008
The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors
and Workforce Investment Boardwill host three no-cost
workshops to assist people laid off from the
construction, manufacturing and mortgage/finance
industries.
The workshops will provide information on industries seeking employees, retraining, financial issues and lifestyle changes.
The events will provide information to laid-off workers about which industries are in need of employees, which skills transfer to other industries, retraining, lifestyle changes and financial planning. The workshops will also provide tips on marketing job skills to achieve employment.
San Bernardino County was recently named one of the hardest-hit regions in the state by layoffs in the construction, manufacturing and mortgage/finance industries. As a result, the San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board recently received funding from Governor Schwarzenegger to assist laid-off workers. The workshops will kick off an ongoing effort to help dislocated workers assess, transition and enhance their skill sets to regain employment in growing industries within the county.
Three workshops will be held, each focusing on the same topics.
